Kids’ Christmas Programs

December is our favorite month of the year, but it is also, by far the busiest.  It seems to be absolutely jam-packed with “places to be” and “things to do”.  It seemed like we had one activity or another every night of the month.  It was exhausting.  One thing that kept us hopping was trying to keep up with all of the kids’ Christmas programs.

First, Alex wowed us with his bass playing skills.

And then he sealed the deal with his sweet dance moves.

(He was absolutely mortified that he had to… gasp… dance with a girl.)

Meet Larry, Curly and Moe.

For some strange reason (I think it had something to do with the fact that we are horrible parents and told her “NO”), Maggie spent most of Alex’s performance like this:

Seriously, is that not the most pitiful thing you have ever seen?

Next up was Sammy.

He spent the entire month of December singing “I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas”.  If you have never heard the song… consider yourself lucky.

Last but not least was the little disaster that we like to call “Maggie’s Christmas Program”.  Don’t get me wrong.  Maggie was incredibly excited to sing for everyone.  She was literally bouncing off of the walls with excitement leading up to the show.  Of course, my slightly neurotic (but smoking hot) wife had to capture all of the pre-show excitement on film:

“Who is a little star?  Why, that would be me of course.”

Things just got goofy from there on.

You might have noticed that we haven’t included any actual pictures of Maggie singing in the show.  Well there is a very good reason for the lack of photographic evidence of her performance.  Let’s just say that the little princess had her first experience with “stage fright”.  As she started to walk up on stage and realized that she was actually singing with the “big kids”… the lip came out (for further reference refer to the picture at Alex’s performance) and the tears flowed freely.  Needless to say, we didn’t get much out of that performance.  It was a good thing that Maggie’s mommy was there to rescue her from the stage.
