Camping again… really, this isn’t supposed to be happening

I was raised to detest camping.  It was a dirty word in our house.  My little sister only lasted one day at girl’s camp.  I don’t understand how it has suddenly become acceptable for us to have multiple family camping outings in the same year.  We have camped out more in the past two years than my entire childhood combined.  It is like we are in the twilight zone or something (anyone who just understood the twilight zone reference is really old, by the way).

Here is the motley crew:

If you look very closely, you will notice the current world record mosquito bite on Olivia’s forehead.  Seriously, it looked like she was growing a new nose.

My wife has an illness.  Although she is smoking hot… she is also a “compulsive-picture-taking-mommy”.  We have approximately one bazillion of the following shots:

Which devolved into this:

Then to this:

And finally to this (notice how Sammy managed to slowly find his way out of the picture… seriously… I truly believe that the kid just has circus carnival music playing in his head all day long).

We camped at Indian Creek near Palisades Reservoir.  Our 5 star accommodations included private bathing facilities:

Someone thought it would be a great idea to arm the little monsters.

Feel the love.

We also were served by several gourmet (aka “redneck”) chefs (hey… one thing that you can be sure of… if a chubby guy is cooking on a grill… he probably knows what he is doing).

Notice all of the bacon?  Chubby guys use bacon like it is it’s own food-group.

No camping trip is complete without some family fun around the camp fire.  We made the most of it.
